  1. Carla and Lorne, we are so saddened to hear of your Moms’ passing. She will be missed dearly and although we couldn’t see her since last fall, we spoke to her often and thought about her in her journey. In many ways it seems very surreal but she will be remembered by all who knew her fondly. She leaves a huge gap in the MacLean clan. Prayers and our deepest sympathies to you and your families. RIP Nancy and may you forever be with lots of music (and NO clapping)!

  2. My deepest condolences to Nancy’s family whom I hope will find comfort in the many wonderful memories they have of her. She will be forever remembered for all she did to uphold and share the Gaelic culture of Cape Breton. May eternity be filled with deserved music, laughter and kinship. Rest In Peace .

  3. Lauren, Christine, Ewan and Finn. My deepest sympathies on your Mom’s passing. She was a lovely lady, with a ready smile, and so welcoming whenever I ran into her. The tribute posted by the Gaelic College was very special. Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers

  4. To Carla and Lauren : Our condolences on the loss of your mother! She, the brainchild of the Baddeck Gathering Ceilidhs was most highly qualified in that capacity, spreading the Gaelic gospel, if you will, & bringing it to the attention of others around the globe! She leaves an astronomical legacy! She was steeped, to say the least, in Scottish music!! As soon as she would turn her car ignition on, the violins would begin to play, serenading her on her travels! When she would step out of the car turning the ignition off, the music would stop, but she made very sure that the music would continue to play in one fashion or another! 24/7 Our thoughts are with you and extended family during this time. Take care!

  5. So very sorry to hear of Nancy’s death. What a wonderful presence she was in our L’Arche community. Her love of traditional music and all things Cape Breton was greatly appreciated by many Core Members.

  6. Lauren and family , Carla and family
We are so sorry to hear about your mom .
We have very fond memories of her when she lived here in Toronto and when she moved back to Nova Scotia We were fortunate to visit her every summer on our way back home . In fact she rescued us when we had a car accident in Bedeck. She came to the hospital and picked us up and kept us at her house …..so many memories of this wonderful lady that I wouldn’t be able to mention them all ! Lauren and Carla I know that you have wonderful memories of your kind , gentle sweet mom …may she rest in peace and may God bless you and your families and keep you safe .
Nancy fly high with the angels and when I hear the fiddles play …I will be thinking of you !!!⚘

I send My Sincere Condolences to Nancy’s Children and Family. Nancy taught school in Baddeck when I took my Grade 12 and being away from Ingonish we both boarded at Fraser’s. It was my first time being away from home to live and I can tell you one thing, if it wasn’t for Nancy taking Me under Her wing and being so good to me I would have gone home without my Grade 12. I was so sorry to read this about Nancy.

  8. Sincere sympathy Karla & Lauren spouses, grand children and many friends. I lost my phone, so did not know until tonight of Nancy’s departure during Celtic Colours when one of her favorite fiddlers Mark Hall played a tribute to her. She was a treasure as all know & my heart goes out to you. It’s lovely to have such a joyful & loving Mom & all the sadder to have to let her goes.

Leave Condolences:
