He walked into the bookstore in Bedford – from that first visit to the last one he brightened my day. He was truly a special soul. My condolences to the family. 10. Joseph, Mark, Andrew and Maria – we were saddened to hear about Uncle Ernie’s death. He and Aunt Mary always welcomed us for a visit, especially when we wanted to play bridge!. We saw him last in 2019 when we dropped in for a visit (and woke him from a nap), and, as usual, he was happy to see us. Remember the good times, and the good father he was to you.

  11. My sympathies to the family. Mr. Stepaniak was a bright spot to many of us as his students at MFDH. I have always held him in great memories and am thankful I ran into him again a few years ago to let him know how much he meant to me. And I credit him for never forgetting “well son, I’ll tell ya. Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair”. Rest In Peace Mr. Stepaniak and virtual hugs to his family ❤️

  14. To Ernie’s family, please accept our sincerest condolences; saddened to learn that Ernie is no longer with us in the traditional sense. But we know he is fully alive, rejoicing in the House of the Lord. His faith was a great example for all. He was blessed with a gift that enabled him to convey an uplifting message regardless of the topic. Charlie and Colleen MacKinnon, Sydney, NS.

  17. Sincere sympathies to the Stepaniak family.
Your Dad and Mom were good friends of my parents and I would frequently enjoy a chat when we would meet.
I always felt badly that I didn’t have Mr. Stepaniak for high school English as he was working at the Board level in those years. I knew he was a very good teacher… and it was my loss.
While this is a difficult time to mourn the passing of a parent, please know that many thoughts and prayers are sent your way.

  18. To the Stepaniak Family,
I heard and read with sadness the news of Ernie’s death. I offer you my sympathies and condolences, care and concern, friendship and prayer. I knew Ernie since 1975 when I went to St Michael’s as pastor. We worked well together and formed a friendship which I value very much. He made a valuable contribution to the Cursillo Movement. A favorite memory I have of your Dad was when I celebrated my 25th, he acted as the Pope in a prepared skit. Wonderful memory of Ernie’s humor.
I assure you of my prayer for your Dad and, as wlll, for you: peace and ho

  20. I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Cousin Ernie. I had a lovely visit with him at Blair’s, while he was staying there recently. Ernie would phone my Mom (his Aunt Muriel) every Halloween for her birthday. He loved her Dearly. After her passing, I was the lucky recipient of those calls every October 31st. I so looked forward to our little chats as we caught up on all the family news. I will miss him dearly, he was such a beautiful person. My deepest condolences to all the family.

  21. Our sincere sympathies to you, Maria, Mark, Andrew, Joseph and to your families. Your dad was so very kind not only to us but to many but you would never hear that from him…so humble. He often brought communion to mom and said prayers with her. We always had laughs. He always had something for us too…sweets, pies, candies. He often spoke of all of you and your children and was proud of all of you. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Ernie. We will miss you.

  22. We were so saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Ernie.
Up until a few weeks before his death, he was an outstanding and vibrant octogenarian. Ever since our daughter Elizabeth has brought the Stepaniak family into our lives with her marriage to Andrew,we have felt fortunate to have them as our extended family. Ernie and Mary were deeply committed parents and citizens to their communities and generous and loyal friends to us all. We consider ourselves to have been very lucky to have known them these past decades Both were so bright and enthusiastic about life and enjoyed sharing that passion with us all. God Bless and May the the joy and peace of God,s heavenly kingdom be your just reward.

  26. My sincere condolences to the family.
Your Dad was such a kind man. One of my fondest memories was him sitting on the sofa and declaring his “two Vickie’s” with a big grin on his face while adjusting his glasses. I also had the privilege of attending his English class and one could easily see he loved his profession.
