Saddened to see this news…condolences to all. I was so fortunate to have been in his English class at MFDH. He would read Shakespeare with so much enthusiasm, even some in Latin, that it made for a great class. Rest in Peace Mr. Stepaniak
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Although I did not know him I was very privileged to have known his wife, Mary, and am very happy to have his son, Andrew, married to my niece, Elizabeth.
I was saddened to see this obituary today. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting this true gentleman when he came to visit his family in the Halifax area. He walked into the bookstore in Bedford – from that first visit to the last one he brightened my day. He was truly a special soul. My condolences to the family. I am sure you have many memories to bring a smile – your Dad, Brother , Grandad was a big bright light !

Joseph, Mark, Andrew and Maria – we were saddened to hear about Uncle Ernie’s death. He and Aunt Mary always welcomed us for a visit, especially when we wanted to play bridge!. We saw him last in 2019 when we dropped in for a visit (and woke him from a nap), and, as usual, he was happy to see us. Remember the good times, and the good father he was to you.
Anne Marie and Joe
My sympathies to the family. Mr. Stepaniak was a bright spot to many of us as his students at MFDH. I have always held him in great memories and am thankful I ran into him again a few years ago to let him know how much he meant to me. And I credit him for never forgetting “well son, I’ll tell ya. Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair”. Rest In Peace Mr. Stepaniak and virtual hugs to his family ❤️
My sincere condolences to the Stepaniak family. Ernie and Mary came to Margaree Forks District High in the early to mid-1960’s. They were just starting their family. They were both excellent teachers.. Ernie had such enthusiasm. They will never be forgotten. May they rest in eternal peace.
To Ernie’s family, please accept our sincerest condolences; saddened to learn that Ernie is no longer with us in the traditional sense. But we know he is fully alive, rejoicing in the House of the Lord. His faith was a great example for all. He was blessed with a gift that enabled him to convey an uplifting message regardless of the topic. Charlie and Colleen MacKinnon, Sydney, NS.

Your Dad was such a kind man. One of my fondest memories was him sitting on the sofa and declaring his “two Vickie’s” with a big grin on his face while adjusting his glasses. I also had the privilege of attending his English class and one could easily see he loved his profession.
